5. Service Terms

The following general terms apply to all mechanical services provided by Silverdale Mechanical Engineering:

  • All work is carried out in accordance with accepted trade practices and manufacturer specifications where applicable
  • Customers will be notified and must authorise any additional work identified during a service before that work proceeds
  • Payment is required upon collection of the vehicle unless a credit account has been established in writing
  • We accept no liability for pre-existing faults or conditions not disclosed at the time of booking
  • Vehicles left on our premises are at the owner's risk; whilst reasonable care is taken, we do not accept liability for loss or damage beyond our reasonable control

Nothing in these terms limits any rights you may have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986 (New Zealand).

6. Consumer Guarantees Act 1993

Where services are supplied to consumers as defined under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 (New Zealand), you have statutory guarantees that the services will be carried out with reasonable care and skill, within a reasonable time, and for a reasonable price where no price is agreed in advance.

Where services are supplied for business purposes, the parties may, by agreement, contract out of the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 to the extent permitted by law.
